Instead I ran out to Romni and bought four skeins of beautiful beautiful Malabrigo merino worsted and have busied myself with trying to swatch for my first sweater project in two years. The (many) reviews I've read of the FLS are positive and it's really too adorable to not at least make an attempt. So off I go, scared as hell that I won't be able to follow the pattern or that finishing the sleeves will go pear shaped, or or or.
So far swatching is only frustrating. Gauge was off with 8s, so I'm on to 9s. I'm not seeing much difference so far, and have 10s lined up. I know needle size is only a recommendation, but I somehow feel like I'm misbehaving by not being able to get the proper gauge on the recommended needles.
